Why a separate viewer instead of just scrolling Instagram?
Instagram's mobile and web feeds truncate comment threads — you typically see 2-3 top comments, then a "View all 4,217 comments" link, then an infinite scroll that loses your place if you tap a profile by mistake. On Reels and IGTV the comment panel lives in a small overlay that's awkward on desktop. This viewer flattens the entire conversation onto one page so you can scan it in seconds.
What you can do that you can't on Instagram itself
- Search across the thread — Cmd/Ctrl-F finds any keyword, @mention, or hashtag instantly.
- Sort by like count — find the comments the audience actually rallied around, not just the most recent.
- Filter by reply / top-level / @mention — useful for giveaway entry verification.
- See the comment's permanent link — Instagram hides this in the desktop UI; we surface it.
- Copy or export — one click sends the full thread to your clipboard or to an Excel file.
Comment viewer for Reels and IGTV
Same flow — paste the Reel or IGTV URL. The viewer handles all three Instagram media types with one entry point. Stories are not supported because Story replies are private DMs, not public comments.
How long does the export take?
Instagram heavily rate-limits comment reads, so even a modest post with a few thousand comments typically takes 10-15 minutes end-to-end, and a large post (tens of thousands of comments or more) can take longer depending on the rate-limit window we're in. You don't need to keep the tab open — start the export, close the page, and we'll email you when the file is ready (or you'll see it in your dashboard).
Privacy
The viewer reads only public data — the same comments your browser sees when you load the post without logging in. We never request your Instagram password and never read DMs.
For private accounts
Private accounts are only visible to followers — and the public viewer can't read those. If you need comments from a private account you follow, our authenticated Instagram exporter uses your own session to pull them.
